{"id":2289,"date":"2019-11-16T12:40:46","date_gmt":"2019-11-16T12:40:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www-dev.promar-international.com\/?p=2289"},"modified":"2019-11-16T12:40:46","modified_gmt":"2019-11-16T12:40:46","slug":"catchment-management","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www-dev.promar-international.com\/it\/catchment-management\/","title":{"rendered":"Catchment Management"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p> Promar&nbsp;has&nbsp;worked on a programme of catchment engagement initiatives with Thames Water&nbsp;focused on the use of crop protection products (particularly&nbsp;metaldehyde) across their region&nbsp;for surface water abstraction catchments, and nitrates for groundwater abstraction catchments.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the delivery period, this has included&nbsp;managing the delivery of farm advice visits, equipment testing and calibration services, farmer meetings and catchment assessments&nbsp;across&nbsp;over 30&nbsp;key&nbsp;surface or ground water&nbsp;catchment areas, with&nbsp;delivery level varying based on Thames Water\u2019s requirement.&nbsp; As part of this project portfolio, Promar has also worked collaboratively with&nbsp;five&nbsp;other organisations, including Catchment&nbsp;Sensitive&nbsp;Farming, to administer product substitution and payment for ecosystem services (PES) initiatives in&nbsp;25&nbsp;designated key catchment areas.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2018, project delivery covered five surface water catchments and three groundwater catchments.&nbsp;Delivery in the groundwater catchments involved an initial catchment assessment, including farm engagement visits to establish&nbsp;key contacts and land management practices in use&nbsp;on each farm.&nbsp; The purpose of this was to determine a potential route for further engagement to protect groundwater sources against high levels of nitrate.&nbsp; The surface water catchments required delivery of 24&nbsp;calibration visits for slug pelleting equipment, and&nbsp;74&nbsp;days of farm support visits to cover a range of topics including farm infrastructure, business planning and succession, stewardship opportunities and soil management.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www-dev.promar-international.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/11\/5a5a719614d8c4188e0b089f.png?w=768&#038;resize=293%2C293\" alt=\"This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is 5a5a719614d8c4188e0b089f.png\" width=\"293\" height=\"293\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Promar&nbsp;has&nbsp;worked on a programme of catchment engagement initiatives with Thames Water&nbsp;focused on the use of crop protection products (particularly&nbsp;metaldehyde) across their region&nbsp;for surface water abstraction catchments, and nitrates for groundwater abstraction catchments.&nbsp; Over the delivery period, this has included&nbsp;managing the delivery of farm advice visits, equipment testing and calibration services, farmer meetings and catchment assessments&nbsp;across&nbsp;over [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":258,"featured_media":1049,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[44],"tags":[],"abs_type":[62],"pro_group":[],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v18.1 (Yoast SEO v19.10) -
