{"id":3504,"date":"2020-03-26T08:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-03-26T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www-dev.promar-international.com\/?p=3504"},"modified":"2020-03-26T08:00:00","modified_gmt":"2020-03-26T08:00:00","slug":"city-food-lecture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www-dev.promar-international.com\/it\/city-food-lecture\/","title":{"rendered":"City Food Lecture"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>By John Giles<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap\"><strong>On the 20th February 2020 we saw almost 700 agri food industry leaders, academics and liverymen come together for the industries annual lecture.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nCity Food Lecture is an invitation only event held at the Guildhall in London.\nOrganised by the seven City of London Livery companies involved in agriculture\nand food: The Worshipful Companies of Bakers, Butchers, Cooks, Farmers,\nFishmongers, Fruiterers and Poulters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This\nyear\u2019s key note speaker was Professor Louise Fresco, the President of the\nExecutive Board of Wageningen University &amp; Research, Europe\u2019s leading\nacademic agri-food organisation and R &amp; D centre. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\nwere incredibly excited to welcome Professor Fresco to the City Food Lecture.\nShe has a wealth of knowledge and an authoritative perspective on the past,\npresent and future of the international food industry and her lecture provided\nserious food for thought to all who attended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year saw Andy Thompson, European, Middle East &amp; Africa, the director of our parent company, Genus, Baroness Rosie Boycott and Ian Wright, the Chief Executive of the Food &amp; Drink Federation take questions from the floor for an hour. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www-dev.promar-international.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2020\/03\/CFL.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3505\" \/><figcaption> Myself accompanying HRH to her seat at the start of the evening.  <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The event is also normally attended by HRH Princess Anne.
